At Sasaki, restroom signage tried to be inclusive by showing both male and female symbols, but this still represents a binary. Where does that leave gender-fluid people at work?

We collaborated with Melanie B., who identifies as non-binary, to develop a mirror-based signage system that symbolizes transparency, self-reflection, and choice, titled "Project Kind". Using materials from Sasaki’s lab, the mirrors were layered over existing signs, giving people another way to represent themselves and choose how they identify. Project Kind isn’t about being “nice.” It’s about making space for all kinds of people.
